A Wide Range Of Transport Applications
Deutsch DTM connectors are the answer to all of your smaller wire gauge applications. Building on the DT design strengths, the DTM connector line was developed to fill the need for lower amperage, multi-pin, inexpensive connectors. The DTM Series offers the ability to use multiple size 20 contacts, each with 7.5 amp continuous capacity, within a single shell.
Deutsch connectors from the DTM series will stand up to the harsh environmental challenges that are common to industrial markets that require advanced performance. They are suitable for a wide range of transport applications including truck, bus, off-highway, construction, agriculture, mining, emergency vehicles, forestry, recreational, marine, and motorcycle.
Deutsch DTM Information
The Deutsch DTM Series of transportation connectors feature a miniature contact with an enhanced design based on the world-class, field-proven Deutsch DT Series (shown above). The DTM is a smaller connector to be used in harsh environmental applications where reliable signal circuits are critical to operating performance. Typical applications include on or around the engine, the transmission and under the hood.
In fact, everywhere data signals or critical electronic circuits go, the field-proven DTM connectors provide peak connector performance. The low-cost, size 20 contacts terminate AWG 16 to 20 gauge wire. Closed entry socket (female) contacts featuring spring action fingers are protected by a stainless steel hood. This allows for positive axial alignment while mating and helps prevent probe damage during testing.
Deutsch’s DTM connector series offers proven contact durability with no electrical or mechanical defects after 100 cycles of engagement and disengagement. DTM connectors can withstand physical shock and vibration with no unlocking or unmating and no signs of mechanical or physical damage.
Thermoplastic housings offer a wide operating temperature range (-55°C to +125°C) while silicone rear wire and internal peripheral interface seals allow the DTM connectors to withstand moisture and fluids.Connectors show no damage when exposed to most fluids used in industrial applications. Properly wired and mated connections will also withstand immersion under three feet of water without loss of electronic qualities or leakage. The DTM Series connectors offer reliability and performance in a connector that fits everyone’s budget.

When ordering a connector it is not always as simple matter of determining between 'male' and 'female' because this can refer to both the housing gender and the contact gender. Many manufacturers offer a given housing gender with both pin and socket. A common example of such confusion occurs in the Deutsch Industrial DT range, where the plug (or male connector) actually contains socket (or female) contacts. For this reason please specify both the contact and housing gender at the time of order.
The IP Rating of a connector or accessory relates to the degree of ingress protection provided by that component. The first digit of the code relates to the degree of protection against access to hazardous parts (conductors etc) and against solid foreign objects. The second digit refers to the degree of protection against the ingress of water. For two examples of this system, consider the most commonly seen IP ratings in our products: IP44 and IP67. IP44 4: Protection from solid objects ≤1mm | 4: Protection against splashing water IP67 6: Protection from dust-sized objects | 7: Protection against immersion in water at depth of 1m for 30mins A complete guide to all IP Ratings is available here.
These terms are used by Phase 3 and ITT Veam on their high-current connectors. The source is considered the half of the connection from which the power is sourced; or the half supplying the electrical power. In an emergency power application, the generator is the source and would be fitted with Panel Source (panel-mount) connectors, a Panel Source Powersafe Box, or Line Source (inline) connectors on pigtails. The drain is the half of the connection which drains the power from the source. In the same emergency power application described above, the network receiving the emergency power supply is the drain and would be fitted with Line Drain connectors, Panel Drain connectors or a Panel Drain Powersafe Box.
We commonly deal with both American Wire Gauge (AWG) and square millimetre (mm2) dimensions as the units used by manufacturers can vary. To convert between measurements please refer this conversion chart.
